Coffee, Coffee OMG I need Coffee!
For me, a cup of coffee first thing in the morning was not just a way of life but life giving substance I required. It was easy, just place the coffee in the filter in the coffee pot then add water, trying to not miss the opening in the back and pour it all over the counter then place the coffee pot under the spout then hit the button and wait! And wait and wait. Now, coffee is even easier! K-cups have changed life as I knew it. Now, I open the drawer under the keurig, pick a flavor of coffee and boom, I have a wonderfully fresh cup of coffee in one of four of my favorite flavors in less than a minute! I still struggle with pouring the water in the back of the machine without getting it all over the counter top.
Now, for me that was an amazing leap into the futuristic process of producing a fresh cup of coffee. For my children, how every, that is to much work. Their generation will drive thru Starbucks or Tim Hortons order coffee with at least 5 adjectives that include description of flavor, temperature, additives, caloric contents and size. Whew!
The third new but old way of making that life initiation morning essential beverage is a french press. Interesting way of re-inventing the mouse trap. Hot water with freshly ground coffee grounds floating on top like Cheerios in a bowl of milk, release the life giving essence into the water and then with a steady hand pushing down on the press filter creates an amazing cup of coffee. Why it taste different, I have no idea! It does require a steady hand and a little upper arm strength, but well worth it in the end.
So pour, press, purchase or grab that first cup of joe and get out there and make your day as important as the process!
